Stone Slab

A stone slab is a large-format sawn natural-stone sheet used for countertops, cladding, and vanity tops. Thickness (2 cm / 3 cm) and finish are ordered with the slab.

Vein Cut

Vein cut is a block cutting orientation parallel to the stone’s veins or bedding planes. The face shows linear banding along the cut. Spanish trade says a la veta or con veta; English short forms include VC and veincut.

Cut To Size Stone

Cut-to-size stone is fabricated to specified dimensions (treads, sills, panels) rather than only stock tile or slab formats. Turkish factories often say ebatlı; Spanish says cortado a medida. Dimensions and finish are stated on the order.

Stair Tread

A stair tread is the horizontal stone step surface (and often the nosing) fabricated for stairs. Turkish: basamak; Spanish: peldaño or huella. Thickness, finish, and edge profile are order fields.

Cross Cut

Cross cut is a block cutting orientation across the stone’s bedding or structural direction, not parallel to the veins. It usually shows a more clouded or flecked face than vein cut. Spanish orders often say sin veta or al agua.

Stair Riser

Vertical face between successive stair treads. In trade it also appears as rıht (Turkish), tabica (Spanish), Tábicas (Spanish). Attested most in Turkey and Spain.

Kerf

A kerf is a narrow saw-cut groove in stone that receives an anchor or fixing device—common in cladding systems. Fabrication detail, not a face finish.

Window Sill

Horizontal element forming the bottom of a window opening. In trade it also appears as denizlik (Turkish), Vierteaguas (Spanish). Attested most in Turkey and Spain.

Marble Tiles

Marble tiles are modular pieces cut from marble for floors and walls. Orders specify selection, finish, thickness, and size. Spanish: baldosas de mármol. In trade it also appears as baldosas de mármol (Spanish), mármol en baldosas (Spanish). Attested most in Turkey and Spain.

Ashlar

Ashlar is precisely dressed prismatic natural-stone masonry blocks with square edges. Construction/unit term, not a polished slab finish. In trade it also appears as ashlars (English), natural stone ashlars (English). Attested most in the US, DE, and Italy.

Coping

Coping is stone capping along wall tops, pool edges, or parapets. Profiles (bullnose, etc.) and finish are specified for weather and traffic exposure.
