Stone Slab

A stone slab is a large-format sawn piece from a block—usually 2 or 3 cm for counters and cladding. Finish and selection complete the commercial line.

Vein cut orients slabs so bedding/veins run along the face—dramatic linear figure, especially on travertine. Opposite of cross-cut (fleuri).

Cut To Size Stone

Cut-to-size stone is fabricated to specified dimensions (treads, sills, panels) rather than only stock tile or slab formats. Dimensions and finish are stated on the order.

Stair Tread

A stair tread is the horizontal stone step surface (and often the nosing) fabricated for stairs. Turkish: basamak; Spanish: peldaño or huella. Thickness, finish, and edge profile are order fields.

Cross Cut

Cross cut orients the block across the bedding or structural direction, not parallel to the veins. The face usually looks more clouded or flecked than vein cut.

A stair riser is the vertical stone face between successive stair treads. Height, finish, and matching tread nosing are specified together on cut-to-size orders.

Raw stone blocks are unprocessed quarry blocks held for later sawing into slabs or cut-to-size pieces. Size and soundness matter more than finish.

A paver is an individual outdoor paving stone or slab unit for terraces, paths, and plazas. Thickness, finish, and joint layout are specified for traffic and weather.

Vein-cut travertine is sawn parallel to bedding so pores and veins form linear bands on the face. Fill and finish (honed, brushed, filled) are still ordered separately.

Kerf

A kerf is a narrow saw-cut groove in stone that receives an anchor or fixing device—common in cladding systems. Fabrication detail, not a face finish.

Window Sill

A window sill is a cut-to-size stone piece forming the horizontal base of a window opening—thickness, drip edge, and finish are order details.

Cross-cut travertine is sawn across bedding so pores appear more scattered and the face looks cloudier than vein cut. Fill and finish still need separate specification.
