Stone Slab

A stone slab is a large-format sawn piece from a block—usually 2 or 3 cm for counters and cladding. Finish and selection complete the commercial line.

Vein Cut

Vein-cut orients slabs so bedding/veins run along the face—dramatic linear figure, especially on travertine. Opposite of cross-cut (fleuri).

Cut To Size Stone

Cut-to-size means factory-cut pieces to project dimensions rather than full slabs only. Finish and thickness still define the line.

Stair Tread

A stair tread is the horizontal walking surface of a step. Specify thickness, finish, nosing, and slip needs.

Cross-cut (fleuri) orients slabs across the bed for cloudier, more open figure. Opposite of vein-cut; common on travertine and some limestones.

A stair riser is the vertical face between treads. Often thinner stock; finish should match the tread package.

Raw blocks are uncut quarry stone sold by weight or size for later slabbing. Not a finished commercial product line.

Vein Cut Travertine

Vein-cut travertine shows linear bedding veins along the face—striated walnut, silver, or ivory movement. Opposite commercial look from cross-cut fleuri.

French Pattern

French pattern is a modular multi-size paving layout (often four tile sizes) for floors and patios. Confirm piece ratios, thickness, and finish; packing must keep the set complete.

Kerf

A kerf is a narrow saw-cut groove in stone that receives an anchor or fixing device—common in cladding systems. Fabrication detail, not a face finish.

Window Sill

A window sill is a cut-to-size stone piece forming the horizontal base of a window opening. Specify thickness, drip edge, finish, and length; marble and limestone are common.

Cross Cut Travertine

Cross-cut travertine (fleuri) shows cloudy, flower-like pores instead of linear veins. Different look from vein-cut; fill and finish still define acceptance.

Coping

Stone coping is the cap piece on walls or pool edges—flat, bullnose, or custom profiles. Thickness, drip edge, and non-slip finish matter for weather and wet-foot grip.
